Casa Mateo is a Houston-based transitional shelter that provides a safe and nurturing space for women and children navigating displacement. Through our 90-day program, we offer more than just shelter – we walk alongside families as they rebuild their lives.Our model integrates wraparound support, including case management, mental health resources, healthcare connections, legal guidance, and educational opportunities. Families also participate in community-building activities like gardening, cooking classes, and our in-house boutique/mercado system, which encourages dignity and choice.Every aspect of Casa Mateo is grounded in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and a belief in the resilience and strength of the families we serve. Casa Mateo’s mission is to welcome displaced women and children, specializing in support for newcomers. We offer hope, hospitality, and support services that foster healing and stability.
