Forensic Evaluation Attorney Request Form

Through the Forensic Evaluations program, HILSC is helping nonprofit legal services and private attorneys representing clients pro bono to request mental health evaluation to support their client's immigration legal case. HILSC will provide a stipend to the clinicians providing the evaluation when they complete the evaluation and an additional stipend for court testimony.

If you would like to request a mental health evaluation through our Forensics Evaluations Program, please fill out this form. Clinicians participating in our evaluator network program are licensed and authorized to assess, diagnose, and provide treatment independently.

We recommend allowing 4-6 weeks between requesting an evaluator and setting the evaluation date. The probability that your case will be placed increases with advance notice. We encourage you to submit the evaluation request during the early phase of your case as the clinician's evaluation focuses on the impacts of past trauma on the client's ability to testify competently to support their immigration claim.

Due to limited capacity and the high demand for evaluations, HILSC cannot guarantee securing an evaluator through this program. Therefore, we encourage you to review our FORENSIC EVALUATOR DIRECTORY to increase your chances of securing a qualified evaluator.

A stipend for clinicians providing mental health evaluations is also available to clinicians you’ve coordinated with externally. To request a stipend, please complete the form and include the clinician’s name and relevant case information.

Should you have any questions about your request, please email thalia@houstonimmigration.org.

Thank you!
